I’m collecting my records for a new rheumatologist and noticed my recorded weight. I was shocked when I saw I gained over 20lbs between my 2 appointmentsin less than a month!
I felt I was putting on water. I’m swelling more and more and waking up with my arms and hands severely swollen. Ive expresses concerns about my kidneys but keep getting dismissed. I’ve warned my doctors but no one has any clue why it’s happening. How is this not concerning?

You do not need anti-dsDNA to get diagnosed. How is your eGFR level? It tells you something about your kidneys and is normally checked at the same time they check your creatinine. And when losing protein in your urine, you should let it checked, as the criteria say, that when you have lupus nefritis, only a positive ANA and the kidneybiopt positive is Lupus. Nothing else needed then.. So really strange your rheumy does not know that, or if he does, strange he does not act accordingly... Wishing you well and hopefully, the new rheumatologist is picking up what the other one dismissed...
I’m not the norm here, as I get blood work done every single Monday morning, but don’t you get it done monthly? How often are they checking your creatinine? Liver function? TSH?
Well, he thought I was a self referral and set up the appointment based on my own concerns. When I told him my last urinalysis was positive, he thought I meant a home test 🙄
They don’t listen, that’s the problem. If they did he would have had my lab results to reference. But you can only insist so much before office staff get frustrated and insulted. Slowly I’m learning to experience how to best communicate with them. Which is succinctly and to confirm everything
Think it is strange the way you are treated... Even if there should come a hypochondriac to this doctor.. He shlould treat people with respect... Hope your kidneys will be fine...
