Has anyone had any success with Functional medicinedoctors? They are pretty pricey since insurance doesn't cover most of their tests.

One particular test my functional medicine doctor wanted me to try was a heavy metal testing where I would need to have an IV chelation therapy to see how many metals are in my body?

Has anyone ever done that type of testing and found that they had extremely high levels of mercury?

See amy article below: https://www.amymyersmd.com/2018/03/5-steps-reve...

Thanks… read more

I have seen functional medicine doctors. I would shy away from intensive chelation therapy if you have SLE. If your organs are not effected by SLE than the reality is you are one big filtering system if you look at it. Your liver, kidneys, lungs, skin, vascular system are all constantly pulling garbage away and getting rid of it. The best thing for keeping mercury low is stay away from tuna and other foods with it in it. Also, exercise, lots of green vegetables, and proper mineral balance will keep most heavy metals (toxins) out of your system.

Also, remember that slow, steady and consistent practices are critical with SLE. Any stress can set off new flare symptoms. Detox programs are often too stressful for the systems of SLE to deal with.

Be aware that our adipose tissues store the extra we carry in our systems. If you keep the proper storage/cushion tissue for your body you will be fine. Ruben Meerman has the best explanation of the mathematics of weight loss, though it is really the mathematics of fat usage in my opinion. Give it a watch and perhaps you will see how you stay relatively toxin free for free, if you practice basic health routines.

Hope this helps.
