Has anyone else had a skin rash that looks more raised skin tone bump initially but progresses into an inflamed raised pimple like bump that has a pustule and can be painful and itchy at times? They usually appear on my torso, front and back. They take a long time to heal too, and leave a darker pigmentation.

I have cutaneous lupus (among others) and this is what my non-butterfly rash looked like last year, before treatment...it was all over both arms, my neck, upper half of chest and back, forhead and bald spot...it's mostly under control now, but yeah...never had a "butterfly rash" on the face!

Yes. I have never had the classic mask, but I do get the kind of rash you describe. They do leave scars. I use lots of concealer on my face and wear longer sleeves to hide my arms. Since I have bee n on Prednisone and Plaquenil, the rash has become much better.

Yes that's initially how I started this journey... I had a pimply itchy rash spread from my upper stomach to my back. It it itched and burned too. Started with a migraine, nausea, sweating and faint feeling. I went to Dr's and my heart rate was over 120 and they gave me antibiotics. My labs showed really low tsh levels but that got better. I was in and out of hospitals cause I was falling, having chest pain, fever, rapid & irregular heart rate for months. Positive ana test was found by a chiropractor and my mri that I begged for cause I started having muscle spasms even when I swallowed showed a really large herniated disc impinging my spinal cord and cutting off foraminal nerve. I saw rheumatologist months later he didn't believe I had lupus did an Avise test which showed I did. I have a strong family history of autoimmune including lupus and RA. I had surgery to remove my herniated disc but I'm still in pain mostly chest and limb pain. I don't have the itchy rash anymore but I do get sores mostly on my chest now. Sorry so long my journey has been exhausting. One thing I had wished I'd done was go to my dermatologist for my rash so she could biopsy it. I recently went cause I had large papules that weren't healing around the bridge of my nose and eyebrows she biopsied it and it came back positive for squamous carcinoma. I thought it was due to my lupus which apparently lupus patients are more prone to getting skin cancer I found out. Honestly I'm not sure of much anymore. My rheumatologist is useless I went to see another one and he ordered a new bunch more tests and told me he's not convinced I have lupus now. So looks like I may be back to the drawing board.

BTW this was what my rash looked like when it was mostly healed. Dr gave me mupricon gel and oral antibiotics. I didn't take a picture of it at first. I also forgot to mention my feet turn red, hot & swell alot...I have like broken capillaries all over my ankles too. Calf pain as well. Not sure if you experience that too but thought I'd mention it.
