Hi everyone, I’m just wondering if anybody else gets swollen and painful breasts. I have just spent the last 4 days in extreme pain in the joints from the waist down, i finally start feeling better and now my breasts are painful and swollen. Is this something that happens to anyone else? If so what do you do to ease the pain?

I had a mammogram yesterday as well just to make sure everything is ok. I have had mammograms before and also suffer with fiberous tissue in the breasts and multiple cycsts, I suppose if it’s anything bad they will call me back

I get pain too. I actually went for my first mamo and it was painless and quick. Then they said I had dense breasts do I had to get an ultrasound of them. My breasts at this time were hurting. My rt one more. I felt like it was almost on my rib under the breast. They scanned it and said it was probably a fluid sac. I have to go back for results. They just said I have multiple cysts in both breasts but nothing else. I went for an x-ray yesterday because the pain was still there and wanted to rule out anything on my rib. I feel like the pain started there but over the two weeks has spread out more. Makes me think it's lupus related then. I will find out soon. It's just annoying that the reumatoid doc doesn't know because he can't see what's inside us. He just says start a new drug, Imuran. This brings me to the question, does anyone feel this is a good drug to start or it's not worth the side effects?

My bones ache, deep. Aweful, my body doesn't swell. I totally do medical grade flexible ice packs from Amazon. They are 20-40$ They are worth the investment. I have had them for years. I alternative between those and a hot pad. I medicate. It's not worth it to me to get behind the pain, I try to stay in front of it when I am really hurting. I am so sorry to hear about your breasts hurting. Praying 🙏 for you

They always say it’s not related but I really do think it IS! Why would it not be? We get swelling elsewhere so why not boobs? Mine have been swelling and hurting off and on since I first developed them. When I’m on plaquenil it’s way less but right now I’m suffering bc I tried to go off of plaquenil. Every doctor I’ve been to look at me like I have a third eyeball when I talk about it and then tell me it’s not related. I think they all assume it’s cycle related but mine is almost constant so I don’t see how. There is such a thing as Lupus mastitis though. I think it requires medication though and I’ve been living with this for years without treatment so idk if it’s that. I spoke with another Lupus lady and she said it’s the nipples that get inflamed. I think she may be right the more I think about it. That associative pain is fierce either way.

I have had the same issue for two and a half weeks now. There is no way I can do a mammo as the pain is pretty intense.Never had this before. Been on a flare for 4 months now with ever changing symtoms. spoke to my rhuemy last week and she said it isn't auto immune???? Thinks it is my pectoral muscles seizing up and the result of some minerals I am on. I stopped taking them and no change. Haven't had a period since early November as my body is such a mess. I will most likely be seeing my primary this week. Let us know how you turned out.
