I have been trying to recover from a Drug Induced Lupus which occurred on top of my SLE back in 2015. I am on plaquenil and have been on low does Medrol/steroid since that time. Every time I try to taper the Medrol to below 2mg a day I have a flare. My medical team thinks Xolair normally for the treatment of asthma and chronic hives might help. There is a small research study on it's use for lupus. I have to be approved by my insurance company for the Xolair. TIA

I haven't heard of the medication you are asking about. I take 400mg of Plaquenil daily along with Tylenol for arthritis and it seems to work ok. Thank you for the info about the AVISE test. My daughter might have lupus. Sometimes I think doctors can put their patients in to much medication and it doesn't mix well with other medications. Best of luck to you. Stay strong lupus warrior. 💜🙏🏻

Great description of DILE. MIne was caused by verapamil used to treat hypertension. It made my SLE go into a full time flare that I am fighting almost 4 years later. I would still like to know if anyone has been treated with Xolair for their SLE symptoms. Also has anyone had the AVISE test for lupus that seems to give so much more info that just regular tests. Stay safe in these storms today.

Drug induced Lupus is when you have blood work and systemic rheumatic symptoms that run parallel to actual Lupus symptoms that are associated directly from treatment with numerous medications and other types of ingested compounds. Distinct syndromes can be distinguished, based on clinical and laboratory features, as well as exposure history. Drug-induced lupus has been reported as a side-effect of long-term therapy with over 40 medications. Its clinical and laboratory features are similar to systemic lupus erythematosus, except that patients fully recover after the offending medication is discontinued.
