How many of your bosses or managers know you have lupus? When is it time to tell them? How did they react?

I told my supervisor and he was not compassionate at all. Kept making rude hurtful comments when I'd get sick at work or have to miss. So I gave him a short education on the effects of lupus. That helped some, people truly don't understand anything about lupus.

I think it depends on the circumstances. If the lupus is impacting your job, then probably should discuss with them. If it isn’t, then it’s hard to know, because as much as it is illegal, some might still discriminate.

I let my supervisors know just incase I'm sick and need to leave. I have fmla but I don't always like to use it if I don't have to. I work with my hands and some jobs I'm not able to do because of the joints of my fingers and the supervisors work with me.

I have been missing a lot of work, i have FMLA, so i pulled my boss aside to tell her what’s been going on. I didn’t have to disclose but i wanted her to know I really have something going on

I’m the type of person who would mention it right away. Best if all involved know as soon as possible I guess.
