Sick After A Day In The Sun

A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I was outside most of the day yesterday, we rented a huge water slide and had a family get together. So I was in a bathing suit all day. I did wear sun screen. Spf 50 and tried to stay in the shade as much as possible. But this morning I woke up with a few red splotchy places on my chest, a major headache, extreme fatigue, some cold symptoms, and a little bit of nausea. Is this a normal thing? Does anyone else experience this after a day in the sun?

It sounds like you are paying the price for too much sun exposure. This article explains what you need to do to avoid a repeat. I hope you feel better soon!

Sun is so bad for us with Lupus I use sunscreen 100 in the summer and 50 in the winter. It is hard for me to stay out of the sun because I always considered myself a summer baby being born in July . But I do pay for it the next day so plenty of water and hats and sunglass when in the sun! Not good for us at all.
Hope you feel better take it easy and plenty of fluids.
Blessings

Yes me too. If I have sun for more than 5 minutes I am down for the count for 2 days. Allergic to sunscreen overheat if too many clothes on. So I have to stay away from it as much as is possible.

Yes absolutely!! Within 20 minutes of sun I have hives, chills, you name it - even get a fever sometimes. I wear 50 also now and try my best to stay out of the sun.
