EDS is genetic, I got it from my moms side of the family and I passed it on to both my kids.l. What I thought were EDS exacerbations turned out to be lupus. Wondering if there were others with both here.
@A MyLupusTeam Member you're welcome! I'm actually off to my genetics consultation soon to confirm the type. It should be easy to contact the genetics department in your local hospital and ask what steps you need to take for an appointment... good luck ππ we can go thru this together at the same time!
Thank you for the info! When we were diagnosed 15 years ago, I was tested for vEDS and that was negative. It was guessed that I had classic EDS. A few years ago it was suggested that I get tested to determine if I had classic or hEDS. At that time I figured it didn't matter so I didn't get tested. Now I will! Your info helped a lot! I will check out the info you found on the website. Thanks again!
Hi and nice to meet you! β
I do have EDS and just informed recently I have UCTD.. which is similar.
I was told connective tissue diseases can overlap and I am thinking it is much more common than what is currently being identified.
There is a study published on the Ehlers Danlos Society website that suggests hEDS patients have a higher likelihood of developing rheumetic diseases than 'normal population' and online I seem to have met a few people with EDS/Lupus on my journey.
It certainly interests me.. and I'd love to get to know your story.
I'm glad you reached out & I hope you are feeling well ππβ€
