I had a nerve conductivity test last week, which showed nothing, because as I learned, the EMG test is for large fiber nerves, and what is common in Lupus is small fiber neuropathy, which is tested for through skin biopsy. Also, the neuropathy pattern common in Lupus includes the face, torso, thigh, which is uncommon in most other types of peripheral neuropathy, so many rheumatologists seem to think it's not related. See email and research article link I sent to my neurologist below

I get the burning skin all the time, it was one of my first symptoms. I get it throughout my body and sometimes it feels like its in my body, in my ribs and legs mostly......its pretty painful
@A MyLupusTeam Member I get the burning skin too. Sometimes on my lower back and bra line. It feels like you said, a chemical burn but nothing there.
Is the burning feeling the bottoms of your feet? I get the burning thing. I was told it can also be low b 12/ b 6 in addition to neuropathy.
Plaquenil helps joint pain, I'm to use Neurontin 200 mg three times a day I really don't think it helps much its the old mainstay for neuropathy. My lab work points to MCTD and less on the Lupus side. You just never know with this disease feel strung out everything gets on my nerves since nervous system got reved up. I only had nerve conduction negative for large fiber he diagnosed mine by symptoms and some type of antibody blood work. Glad it wasn't ALS!
Rachel, it helps a little. I try to only take it as needed
