Does anyone experience or have experienced sharp piercing chest pain that takes your breath away, literally? Pain so sudden and sharp it brings you to your knees but everytime you go to the ER they find nothing.

Yes. It could be different things. Pleurisy is one of those things. When it fully it me it literally felt as though I was having a heart attack. (Definitely have your doctors check into that.) It can also come from stress and anxiety due to all that you have to deal with now and the challenges that lupus has presented in life and relationships. A few months ago CAD was added as one of the issues I now deal with. My latest is constant palpitations (chest flutters). High blood pressure and other things can cause the chest pains as well. I recommend that you never take it for granted and any time you get concerned enough to go to the ER do it. Don't talk yourself out of it or let others talk you out of it.

Go to a rheumatologist and ask for a spinal X-ray that's how they found out I had D.I.S.H you'll have to Google it but it has to do with the spine that was one of my symptoms chest pain shortness of breath. I hope you find an answer soon

It's not really anxiety. But you start to panic when it happens and it constricts more. That's why the breathing exercises help. If you can calm down then it loosens it and it doesn't hurt as much.
costochondritis is the inflammation of the cartilage that connects the ribs to the breastbone. There is no known reason for it.

Sorry you are experiencing this. I too have chest pain but its usually not that intense unless I have pericarditis or pleurisy. My Rhuematologist has sugggested I go to a cardiologist for an examination so that I have a base line.

Yes, I have. And do regularly. It can be scary but if you have been checked out it is probably some form of inflammation, whether it is heart lining (pericarditis), lungs (pleurisy), ribs (costochondritis), or something else. At the ER they are really just checking to make sure your heart/lungs etc are not in immediate danger, and not necessarily looking close enough to diagnose properly. I went to the ER four times with chest pains and they said I was fine after EKGs and a chest xray. Then I saw a cardiologist and he said I had pericarditis. Please think about seeing a specialist.
