I went and seen my rhematologist today. He is testing me for Lupus. I love the sun. But this summer i cant. If i am out in the sun for 10 min or more, i feel extremely sick. I get a rash and my fingers and joints swell. So i avoid the sun now. Just wanted to know what your symptoms are after sun exposure. Thanks

Many people with lupus experience photosensitivity or unusual sensitivity to sunlight. This can trigger symptoms such as skin rashes, itching, and burning. Excess sun exposure can also cause flares in systemic lupus, triggering symptoms such as joint pain, weakness, and fatigue.

Mine are about the same as yours, rash, swelling and just feel sick. I also get bad migraines and vision problems. I hope u can find a way to manage it. Plaquenil helped me out a lot when it came to this problem

I live in Fl and it’s almost impossible to avoid the sun. I also really love the sun, love cookouts, amusement parks, beaches and really almost anything water related. When I’m in the sun for over 30 minutes at a time, it effects my digestive system mostly. I’ll be sick for hours if not days with stomach issues, fatigue, butterfly rash, joint pain and headache. I hope you find the answers you need for your diagnosis. Positivity, prayers, love and light your way
