For all my women friends I have a serious question. I started taking birth control pills a year ago because the depo shot decreased my estrogen to nothing. However, I’ve been a mess and lupus flares are worse than ever.

I think it’s the pills, anyone else experience this? Should I go back on the shot or just forget birthcontrol all together?

Update: I stopped the pill and feel so much better. The fluctuating hormone levels were to much to handle. I have some night sweats but I sleep through them. I’m not a person for BC pills. Dr said if my periods come back I’ll be put on DepoProver. Doesn’t contain estrogen and previously stopped my periods as long as I took it.

Dr said periods that trigger and make flares worse is a symptom of lupus. I also started using fenugreek. Look it up it’s an herbal medication and food source. Clinically studied and amazing for many things including stabilizing hormones and getting rid of cramps. Amazing food.

I'm not sure about the pill but you should look into the medication that I started two weeks ago and it is called Acthar Gel. It has already started helping me with having only taken 4 shots. I will give more of an update in about 1 month. I actually feel almost normal again. Please, just look ot up and see if it can help you. ❤🙏

Pills affect us a lot! You should try alternative ones. Like a copper IUD, for example.

So I cannot use any insertable as they irritate me and I’m generally allergic to their chemical makeup. I’ll look into the gel. After doing some research I’ve found woman who have Lupus shouldn’t take the pill for multiple reasons. Maybe it’s time to let nature take its course. Thanks everyone!
