A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question 💭
Carlsbad, CA

I have been diagnosed with Lupus SLE, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.
For the past 25 years since my diagnoses, today I feel like my body is giving away.
The stress of a bitter divorce, finances, and abuse, has taken a toll in my health.
I need help to file for disability ASAP and I don't know where to start.
Anyone?
Thanks

Praying for you. I am glad you are reapplying for DA.

I was able to register and start the process. Now, my rheumatologist, is going to do the paperwork. Also, i just got diagnosed with a meningioma in my brain, the MRI says most likely is benign. I have an appointment with the neurosurgeon on 11/01. Hopefully now, they will approve my disability. Casting all my troubles in the Lord's hands.

Hi Candyce,
Thank you for your prayers. I have been learning more and more to rely on The Lord.
I just saw my gastro doc and I need surgery for Cricopharyngeal bar defect. That means, the food gets stuck in my throat. I am still waiting to see an endocrinologist. I recently moved and I need to find a new primary. My gastro encouraged me to apply for disability as well. I need to gather a lot of paperwork from doctors and therapists. In the mean time, I am still looking for a job, and still dealing with that nasty divorce 🤪. I will keep in mind about the disability attorney.
How are you doing lately?
Thank you and have a blessed week.

My physicians helped me. You can go to a disability attorney for assistance. I avoid SSDI, since the whole system is designed to reject your application multiple times and push you to give up. Using an atty, whose fee comes from any back award, removes the stress of the entire process from you.

It helps if you talk with your doctor and sometimes they will help you get the whole thing started, even if they deny you oh, you just file again and again, usually by the third time, you get accepted. Then they should back pay you from wherever it was you originally filed. I have not filed for disability myself because I'm still able to function but I know pushing through all of this it's not good for my body. Sometimes when I have flare-ups, I go into the fetal position because of the pain and mostly try to hide somewhere so nobody sees it. I really hope that they figure out how to get a hold on this disease someday, I have passed it on to my daughter and I do not wish for her to go through all of this.
