Has anyone been on high dosage prednisone and NOT come down with osteoporosis?
Has anyone taken prednisone, had osteoporosis, and has been able to reverse it or at least get it to stabilize?
What experiences have you all had with prednisone and bone issues? What works and what doesn't?
Thanks!!
Hallie

It depends on what is going on. A maintenance dose is 5mg daily. A dose pac of 40 mg titrating down to 5 mgs. Now I only take it when in a flare up. Yes I do have osteopenia but it’s not bad. It is such a individual thing.

I only take Predisone when I’m in a flare. I do a 10 day tapering dose. I do have osteoporosis but I can keep it in tack better this way. I take vitamin C, vitamin D, calcium with magnesium, collagen, and vitamin B with a stressor reduction.

thanks all. @A MyLupusTeam Member I already have cracked teeth, I've had scoliosis since childhood but lost an inch of height in the last few years, and when I get the chest X-rays for my lungs we can see what rib or ribs I've fractured between X-rays. I have to choose between my skeleton and my lungs. @A MyLupusTeam Member thanks for those articles. Not good that the Prilosec I take daily also causes osteoporosis. I read elsewhere that Prilosec has a beneficial effect on the lungs besides keeping the tummy happy.

Doctors are too quick to say osteoporosis is irreversible though in some cases it’s too severe and that is likely. I did a quick search and it looks promising to regain some ground. I only looked briefly and didn’t read in depth though I did see the two drugs you named mentioned. I remember reading some time ago about a book describing a method that went beyond western pharmacology but have not been able to remember the name.
But here are a couple articles that may contain helpful information https://www.nbihealth.com/top-natural-ways-to-r...
