Hi all. Please can someone tell me if they take Mycophenolate mofetil (Cellcept). How does it improve lupus, my doctor insisted that I should take and I fear that side effects.

I have been taking it for four or so years. I don’t have any side effects but I feel a lot better. It’s the only thing that helps control my pain.

It is an immunosupressant, it stops your body from attacking your organs. I do a biologic called Benlysta, its a once monthly infusion but I think there are now either shots or pills, and I take Methotrexate. There are other immunosupressants if you don't like that one. The important thing is to stop your immune system from causing damage to your heart, lungs, kidneys and brain so it is very important.

Hi Maureen. I dont take the mycophenolate, but my husband has been on it for 10years post a kidney transplant. He has been fine (thank God). My doctor just took me off benlysta due to skin reactions at the injection site. She wants me to try imeron (sp) if my labs from today come back eithon parameters. Good luck.
