In reply to Stephanie’s question about meds and hair loss I am not totally sure of what you need to hear. But I can say that I’d not sought out a true diagnosis of my lupus were it not for hair loss. My pain and my symptoms were a mystery to every doctor I’d visited until my most apparent hair loss. It began with large patches and scarring that remain to this day. I just shave it all off . I don’t believe I’d be able to do a comb over. You might get your best answer from a dermatologist. God bless you. Stay with self preservation as your motive.

Yes, of course! If you can get your doc to do it. 🙄 All of that should be standard annual autoimmune testing. Sadly, it is not.

I had hair loss and horrible rashes before plaquenil. It helped with both - my hair is back to normal and I have very few rashes unless I go into the sun without protection. It also helped some with the joint pain but not a lot. It did help with fatigue, too. Hope this helps.

I experience some hair loss before I was on plaqenil. I have times it still happens but very rarely since I’ve been on it and not as severe. Only once was it really bad. I’m going through a hair loss phase now but it’s not noticeable and usually stops. Another thing is It made my hair curlier! My hair was very straight snd fine, but now it had loose curls. Even my eyelashes curled except only on one eye. My rheumatologist had never heard of the added curl but many of his patients have reported it.
