I am not a doctor, so I cannot interpret your lab results. I can help you understand what they tested for - this is a series that is generally used to see a profile of your immune system’s functioning. The first test is what is commonly called your ANA profile. A high ANA can indicate an autoimmune disease. High is 1:1 280.

Presence of RNP antibodies can indicate the presence of an autoimmune or connective tissue disorder.

Smith antibodies are present in lupus.

F3 and F4 complements track certain proteins that are present in autoimmune diseases. They help your doctor to see how your immune system is functioning.

Sjogrens has a test that indicates whether you have that autoimmune condition.

What is really important is that these tests are the start of a general work up, that helps your doctor rule out conditions and/or figure out if any additional tests need to be preformed. You deserve to have your doctor walk you through your specific results and explain what he/she believes are the next steps for you. I urge you to ask for the appointment, so you can get the proper information about your results.

I know it is scary and upsetting to go through testing and the worry that you might have an autoimmune disease. As someone who is in her 60’s, diagnosed in my early 20’s there is plenty of good life even when you live with lupus.

Don’t put up with doctors that don’t listen and that don’t believe you about certain symptoms. A bad doctor tries to push off things to other docs instead of helping you with them. Get a good doc! It’s worth your time. I have just decided to ditch the two docs that I have tried around where I moved to two years ago and have decided to drive 5 1/2 hours back and forth to see my previous one from where I moved. She is awesome.

Very good advice. I was diagnosed in my late 20s early 30s. I'm in my mid 50s now.
Ask alot if questions from your drs.
Get other opinions. It can take ALOT of time, to get the results in the lab work.
I've had symptoms since I was 10.
It took 20 yrs to get a dx.

Find drs you can talk to, you can trust. It may take time. But when you do. It's worth everything.
Prayers and God bless

I always look up everything on google. It helps me understand better when the doc doesn’t really have the time.
