I have had AVN in both hips, requiring bilateral hip replacements. Two years later I developed.AVN in both legs in their entirety. My ortho was stumped as to the cause of.AVN. After six second opinions no one has ever heard of.AVN in the legs. I have never taken steroids and I do not drink alcohol excessively, which are two of the common causes. I was diagnosed with lupus, three months ago, After doing extensive research, I found that lupus can cause bone, death, which is AVN. At least I now know what caused my avascular necrosis. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar scenario. Thanks for your response

High-dose steroids can cause this in us--another good reason to avoid them if possible. I'm sorry to hear you're having this and hope your pain resolves!
