Hey all, I feel a little stupid asking this, especially because most of you are writing about lack of family understanding of your health issues (I deal with that too) and side effects of medications but when I was diagnosed in 2021, I basically revamped my wardrobe with UPF clothing, workout pants and sneakers. I am a real estate agent and, not a dainty woman so I have a hard time feeling feminine in my clothing, not to mention I feel like my clients think I look unprofessional dressed like… read more

Yeah I live in sunny south florida, so I know we look or feel ridiculous but it is what it is @A MyLupusTeam Member

Definitely long sleeves from the sun. Sun block all over & a hat. Never wore these items prior to diagnosis. Cover as much as possible to protect your skin. You can still look appealing & acceptable with the right attire.

@A MyLupusTeam Member rash guards are tops that have UPF protection built in. They are long sleeved and lightweight but, as a realtor, I felt more professional in dresses and heels. I am curating pieces of 925 jewelry to sell online. That was the only type of jewelry that didn't give me any kind of reaction and still made me feel cute without breaking the bank. Just trying to find happiness in things not related to food and trust me, I am trying to get off of the meds as soon as humanly possible.

I mostly wear sun protective shirts with a large blouse over..and either jeans or sweats..tennis shoes. I switched careers due to lupus so I mostly just write from home..so I can wear what I want most days.
Sunscreen and large hats or a hood when I'm outside. Sunglasses.
That said, I live in South Texas so lots of direct sunlight..and I'm very light sensitive. Do I feel ridiculous? Absolutely.
I do slather myself in sunscreen and wear dresses to church once a week...leaving my hat in the car..mainly because I miss dressing nice. As soon as I get home, back to my usual attire.

Not sure what rash guards are? Ling sleeves in a light weight fabric. Not sure where you live, but if its not constant direct sun its prob Not necessary to buy All sun protective clothing. Use an spf 50 daily on expised skin, esp face. Neurtogena makes 1 that is nit sticky/smelly.
Dont let lupus take over your life by changing your attire.
I had to buy new clothes after gaining 30lbs...but i dropped All once off steroids. Get off the meds as soon as you are able.
GL!💜
