I was so sure that hashimotos has a positive ANA anyways but now I'm reading that when you are tested for ANA By IFA and titers are high (mine is 1:180) then it's positive and it shows homogeneous then it's Lupus?
I have had hashimotos thyroiditis for almost 14 years now.
Any input? I'm so confused

I have the exact same scenario. I've read so much conflicting information I don't know anymore and I'm still trying to figure it out. Hashis 15 years, homogeneous and 1:160 ANA. I have other symptoms and no clear answer.

I had numbness and tingling in my hand an feet, severe muscle tiredness and joint pain. I had exact same numbers with homogenous pattern. Had positive antibody for Hoshimotos. however thyroid studies all normal. Had negative lupus studies however symptoms continued. After 3.5 years and a lot of frustrstion and just wanting to feel better my PCP sent me to a new rheumatologist. She drew an antichromitin antibody as well as all other lupus markers. Only thing that came back positive was my antichromatin antibody, high normal is 0.9 and mine is 44. It is an antibody that is positive for a high percentage of lupus nephritis patients and only is elevated in lupus nephritis and a low % of Sjorengens patients. Currently my kidney labs are all normal. The ironic thing is I am a dialysis nurse, so I know all too well about lupus nephritis and it outcomes. My current symptoms are inflammatory arthritis. muscle pain with weakness, random rashes, numbness and tingling in toes and most currently started with mouth, nose and ear sores. I was started on a low dose of Hydroxychloroquine end of January, and am waiting for it to help. It can take up to 3 months for it to start reducing inflamation. I would not have gotten here if it wasn't for my PCP and my persistence with my complaints of feeling bad. Don't give up in pursuing an answer.

Have you had more detailed antibody testing including anti-dsDNA, anti-Smith, RNP, RO, La antibodies, etc. by a rheumatologist? Also markers of inflammation including ESR and CRP can be helpful. I hope this helps and you get more info!
