Part of how I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE was from a blood clot that formed from my groin to my ankle in my right leg. I’m on Xarelto but the clot is not dissolving. It’s unchanged after 6 mos. My doctor keeps wanting to wait for my body to take up the clot. Im concerned about compartment syndrome. Anyone have experience with this?
Thank you for the advice! I did not know clots formed by lupus need more aggressive dosing. I did see that Xarelto won’t dissolve the clot. It just stops new ones from forming which it has done so far. I plan to reach out this week for another opinion regarding getting the clot to dissolve. I’m so thankful for the help I’m finding here. My doctors are not educating me about lupus or really anything and I’m having to find information on my own. I really appreciate you taking a minute to share with me ♥️
Lori, it would be really unlikely for it to progress with you taking blood thinners, from what I've seen over the decades in my patients, so please don't stress about it! You may want to ask your hematologist whether there would be any advantage to coumadin over Xarelto, as lupus blood clots typically need more aggressive dosing of blood thinners. Coumadin can be adjusted while xarelto cannot. I'm not sure the newer thinners have even been approved for lupus blood clots. I would definitely see a hematologist and consider a second opinion if you're already seeing one.
Thank you and thank you also for the hug. Sending one right back ♥️
I had a blood clot after a fall, but it was before my diagnosis. It was the only one so far.
Hope you get some good answers 💗
