Hey has anyone had a TIA or stroke and want to share their experience. I have been really ill recently and am afraid the ER may have overlooked something due to the more immediate pressing symptoms. Just curious.
My husband had 4 strokes and each was a little different. Long story but basically, any sign of face drooping, slurred speech, cold body, severe sweating, anything out of the norm, call 911 or go to nearest emergency room. He would have died if we hadn’t. Be persistent with the doctors in getting to the root of your problems and don’t let them gloss over anything. A neurologist can order an MRI of your brain that has contrast dye that will show previous strokes.
@A MyLupusTeam Member thank you for sharing! @A MyLupusTeam Member I hope you do push forward and get some answers to your concerns. I'm pretty sure whatever you are experiencing is valid and scary. Remember to keep a diary or notes on what you are experiencing just in case you are noticing a pattern, things getting worse, keeping track of how long and what you were doing.
What symptoms are you having? I had what doctors are now calling stroke like presentation. I had half my face fall, lost sensation in half of body, stuttered, double vision followed by seizures and migraines. All tests were normal. Ive learned there are other things that can cause stroke like symptoms. You need to see a neurologists if having symptoms but dont let them tell you nothing is wrong if nothing shows up on MRI or CT. Im living proof its not always a stroke. Or the imaging can miss it. Hang in there.
Hi Calli,
I am sorry to hear you have been unwell. I would definitely follow up with a specialist. Prayers for healing. Take care.
I have had 3 ischemic strokes. Two in the occipital lobe and one in the parietal lobe. I did not have any normal signs like face dropping, abnormal speech or anything. I did have vision problems. Blurriness in eyes with the first one. With the second one I did get really dizzy and sweaty hot. Always go to the ER. The first MRI did not show anything but the CT scan with contrast did. Please go get a checked out.
