I've been on Plaquenil for years. My test results (ANA; SED and other inflammatory markers; and other test results) keep coming up normal, although I received positive results in the 1990s.

Antibody levels can fluctuate and even normalize, but we still have the disease. My anti-dsDNA levels are only positive occasionally, for example.

Plaquenil (Hydroxychloroquine) can help manage lupus symptoms, and some people may see improvements in their test results over time. However, individual responses vary, and it's important to continue regular monitoring and consultations with your doctor to assess the effectiveness of the treatment and adjust as needed.

I can't say I'm in remission, as I still have symptoms that are worsening (skin rash if exposed to light, even during winter; worsening circulation problems and worsening Sjogren's and still have body-wide swelling episodes during flares, etc. -). The only baffling issue is the test results remain "normal." That's why I wondered if others, with the number of people who have had "normal" results on tests have also been taking Plaquenil for a while.

Yes, it's possible that you're in remission, Sammantha, and I hope your symptoms are gone too.
