It's the rainy season here in east Georgia! π And every time it rains, my body suffers! Right now my neck and shoulders ache so bad, that it actually feels like my head is too heavy to carry. π The rest of my body aches as well with muscle and joint pain, but it's such a strange feeling to actually feel the weight of my head on my neck and shoulders!
Does any one else experience this?
I hope you all are feeling better than I am today! β€οΈ
There are all kinds of theories no one really knows why, some ppl think it's the change in air pressure. Just like ppl with arthritis can tell when it's going to rain, I can feel a front coming in.
I feel it coming in as well. Ugh π«
Me toooo. It has to do with LOWER barometric pressure. On HIGH pressure days I feel (in my body) as though a million tons has been lifted from me.
I asked my rheumatologist and he said the change in pressure causes your body to release more cytokines (I think) that basically just ramp up inflammation. He said it happens to everyone but if your body is being attacked and inflamed from SLE you feel it way more. It usually doesnβt bother me too much, I might just feel a little off on rainy days, but we have noticed that if a storm produces a tornado there is a 90% chance Iβll feel awful pressure. Super power or symptom, you decide π
Changes in weather, such as rain, can affect people with lupus. Fluctuations in barometric pressure, which occur during rainy weather, can lead to increased symptoms like swelling and joint pain. Some people with lupus also find that humidity makes them feel more lethargic and drained. If you're experiencing these symptoms Show Full Answer
