I'm sure you and your doctor will closely monitor your BP while you're on it and make sure you're tolerating it. Short-term use is reasonable, and hopefully, the weight won't return once you're off it.

The only medication that I’m on is Benlysta infusions once a month. I have what appears to be a mild case of SLE. No steroids at all. No pain medication. The only other thing that I may take occasionally is Allegra Hives because when I do have flare it’s more in the form of itching and whelps in that particular area. That usually clears up after one or two doses. My numbers have been trending towards normal and my rheumatologist is very pleased. We just don’t know why I can’t get rid of the weight. I work out regularly. I'm not an overeater and I try to watch what I eat. I’m not diabetic either. No blood pressure problems. Nothing else. I just don’t know but my cardiologist (I just went to him for my annual checkup) said that the extra weight is not good for someone with lupus so he prescribed adipex.

Wickeduck, as an internal medicine physician, Adipex can be dangerous and not a good option. You may want to ask your doctor about semaglutide as a safer option, but I agree with @A MyLupusTeam Member that it's important to determine the cause first. If you're on steroids or other causative drugs and can wean off, that can help.

A plant-based diet can help, too.
