Artermis and @Missprevot--Please be sure that your doctor does a urine culture to ensure that you really need an antibiotic. Interstitial cystitis, which lupus can cause, does NOT respond to antibiotics.

Thanks - I went to the MD yesterday and although my urine test was inconclusive for infection, because I was having symptoms of a UTI the MD started me on an antibiotic. Just hoping this is not interstitial cystitis, which I’ve read can be a part of lupus. This is the third year in a row that I’ve had these symptoms (along with facial rash and mouth ulcers). Every year, the flare has correlated precisely to my increased time outdoors with more sun exposure related to gardening and tennis. 😖

Artemis, yes, I've experienced these symptoms during a flare. I'm sure you were checked to be sure you don't have a UTI.

- Burning Eyes: Dry eye disease, also known as keratoconjunctivitis sicca, is common in lupus and can cause an irritated, scratchy, or burning sensation in the eyes.
- Cystitis: While the context does not specifically mention cystitis, lupus can cause various symptoms and complications, so it is possible.

For managing these symptoms, treatments like corticosteroids, antimalarial drugs, and specific mouthwashes or ointments may be recommended.
