@Danny5--Even though you may not be feeling significantly better on it, HCQ is the ONLY drug we take that doesn't suppress our immune system--a huge advantage. It also is proven to help prevent flares, improve symptoms, prevent blood clots, and even probably extend our survival. Just some factors to consider. As long as you're on no more than 5 mg/kg of your body weight, the risk of eye problems is very low.
@Danny5--I also agree completely with others' input about the risks of heart attack, stroke, and worsening kidney disease. Carnivore diets also raise the levels of inflammation and risk for cancer and obesity--thereby increasing the risk of high BP and diabetes, too.
@Danny5--I'd check out a plant-based, whole foods diet, as experts believe this is the least inflammatory diet, and it has helped me.
Thank you! I didn't know that about carnivore. Have a blessed day.
I agree with @A MyLupusTeam Member that a high protein diet is not a good idea. Having a diet with too much protein is hard on the kidneys especially in the case of lupus nephritis. Also being on a diet high in fat could result in atherosclerosis (clogged arteries) which could lead to coronary artery disease. Lupus patients are already at high risk for heart disease due to inflammation in the body.
