Marie, I haven't tried these, but any procedure poses a risk for a lupus flare. Red light therapy is popular, but it hasn't been found effective for any medical condition.

I think the old-fashioned ways of losing weight (healthy diet, etc.), tend to be the safest, though not the easiest, sadly!😘

I can totally relate. I thought I was the only SLE sufferer who now has a weight issue! Lol I have been within a 10 lb range my whole adult life, until the lupus journey. I have gained 50lbs over the past 3 years. My PCP said it’s a combination of chronic, uncontrolled inflammation and a massive lifestyle change due to the insane fatigue and joint pain. I would definitely advise discussing with ur Rheumatologist at the least, before moving forward with any elective procedure! Problems Healing, setting off an inflammatory response, and/or a lupus flair would be at the top of my concerns. Good luck! I hope you find a solution that works for you.

When it comes to red light therapy for lupus, it's important to note that there is no scientific evidence showing that red light therapy helps with weight loss. While some MyLupusTeam members have shared their personal experiences with red light therapy for lupus, mentioning benefits like reduced body aches, joint pain, and stiffness, it did not help with hair loss or discoid rash.

If you are considering red light therapy, always discuss it with your doctor first, especially if you have lupus or another autoimmune disease. It's also recommended to seek treatment in a licensed, certified facility rather than nonmedical settings like gyms and salons.
