I have SLE, diagnosed in April 2024 but apparently already in remission. I fairly suddenly had some knee pain show up yesterday on my right knee. It feels tender below the knee cap (it hurts if I touch it) and it hurts to put my full weight on it so I am limping. This is the same knee that I’ve been rehabbing patellofemoral syndrome on… which has been going well and I recently “graduated” from physical therapy for it. The pain is in a different location from the patellofemoral syndrome. I’ve had… read more
Thanks, @A MyLupusTeam Member, it’s validating that my weird pain isn’t in my head! I’m happy to report that after taking it easy today at home, I’m no longer limping and the pain has almost completely subsided.
I’m currently reading two books: A collection of essays called “Disability Intimacy” edited by Alice Wong, and the first in on of TJ Klune’s series called Wolfsong. Wolfsong has been easy to get into and hold my attention, which is what I seem to need these days.
Have you got any good books on the go right now?
Thanks, Henry Ey, I will try my TENS unit for similar leg pain!
@A MyLupusTeam Member I hate this disease with a passion but all we can do is deal with each day and hope for a better tomorrow…hopefully that doesn’t seem as pathetic as I think it does 😅 but from being on different support groups, the winter months seem to flare us all up in interesting ways. I’ve heard it called the October slide. I’m hoping that means we’ll have an April gain 😂😂
Jess, you aren't imagining it and woohoo, your injury is healing, so fast!
Yes, I am reading Steven Petrow's book, "The Joy You Make" (he is in my online meditation group, The Do Nothing Project) , Roland Merullo's " Dinner with Buddha", "Of Time and Turtles" by Sy Mongomery (anything she writes is wonderful natural history, and " The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store" by James Mc Bride.
I will look for "Wolfsong" ! Thanks :)
Jonathon, you nailed it! My old symptoms and injuries are returning too, with the lupus. Weird isn't it?
