Thanks for all the information. I already take meds to control my heart rate. I'm just hoping that they can figure out the autonomic disorders. As far of the EEG, it was completed for 72h4s, and didn't show anything. I currently have an ICD implanted since 2022. The good thing is irs supposed record all the abnormalities. Problem is they have to last more then a minute to record the issues. The ICD is programmed to pace at 40 bpm. To me that seems a little low. Luckily the swelling is going down. I'm gonna give it till tomorrow. Honestly I'm just trying not to get sent to the hospital.
Again thank you for all your invite.
Well the funny thing about EEG's, they can't rule out seizures. They can only confirm if you are actively having a seizure.
The most frustrating thing is going through all these different Cronic illnesses, from the heart issues, diabetes, lupus, fibromyalgia, and cronic pain. All I want is my doctors to get on the same page and work together. I know there is a chance they might not be able to treat me, but at least I would know what is going on. They are concerned that my central nervous system is attacking my heart, and I just want to know. I'm starting to feel really bad today, and feel a hospital visit is in my future. My feet are starting to swell, which means my heart function is slowing down.
You're welcome, Tim.
I'm sorry you're having swelling, and please contact your cardiologist about it--especially if you're also having more shortness of breath! A sleep-deprived EEG can help bring out seizures, but you're right that it still may not capture it.
The autonomic nervous system controls automatic functions, like our heart rate, BP, and GI tract function. So it's not that your central nervous system is attacking the heart, but lupus can affect the autonomic nervous system, affecting these automatic functions. Medications can help control the heart rate if it's getting too fast, and if it's too slow, a pacemaker can help. I hope this is helpful.
It's obviously a complicated situation, Tim, and I'm glad you've found doctors interested in helping you get to the bottom of it! Lupus can cause seizures, but it's surprising your EEG was normal. Did they do a sleep-deprived EEG on you?
You may want to consider a plant-based diet to help prevent further coronary artery blockages, keep your heart healthier, and reduce inflammation overall.
