I have digestive problems I guess is related to the lupus. I also have blood clots problems. I have no real appetite and make myself eat. I am VERY LIMITED on money for food. My husband is in bad shape and he doesn't eat what I do, so my habits are not healthy and I do for him.
Plant-based eating with whole grains (like oatmeal, whole-grain bread, brown rice), legumes (lentils, black beans, all beans), veggies, and fruits are good options. Frozen veggies and fruits (for smoothies) are a good, cheaper, nutritious option. Nuts, nut butter, and seeds are also good for us, especially chia seed and ground flaxseed, Lisa. I hope this helps!
Soup and bone broths, fiberous veggies, peanut butter, canned tuna or salmon, garbanzo beans are some things I like to buy. Tortillas, mushrooms,, fresh spinach and mozzerella cheese.
Do you have any food pantries in your area? Also talk to your Dr about needing assistance with your dietary needs. There are different agencies that help with food and clothing.
I have food stamps and have gone to food pantries. I need ideas on foods t change or not eat. I will fix for my husband, but don't have strength to fix mine. What he eat makes me sick at my stomach and I spend time in the bathroom. (Sorry).
I don't know. I guess I feel lost on what to do or how to handle it. My husband and I have been together for 32 years. He is in bad shape and I will do FOR HIM.
Managing lupus on a tight budget while addressing digestive issues and blood clot concerns can be challenging, but small, affordable changes can help. Here are some tips:
1. Focus on Fiber: Incorporate affordable high-fiber foods like beans, lentils, and oats to support digestion. These are budget-friendly and versatile.
