Yes, TaKeisha, I've had this, too, and it has progressed to pleuritis (inflammation of the lining around the lungs). Please see your doctor if it's severe, persistent, or worsening.

Ok the rib pain I've had this !! I have it tied to an activity I did previously or from leaning over the bed or counter trying to do my makeup (epic fail) but all lead to sore ribs. But I find with my lupus pain that has to do with inflammation last for days , weeks , and even months.

Yes, rib pain is quite common during lupus flares, with about 76% of people with lupus reporting pain beyond just joint discomfort. This can manifest as a burning sensation, bruised feeling, or chest pain, particularly when breathing deeply.

For about half of people with lupus, the condition affects their lungs, which can cause inflammation of the membrane surrounding the lungs (pleuritis) and contribute to rib pain. There are several ways to manage rib pain during flares:
- Using a heating pad can provide relief
- Getting plenty of rest when symptoms first appear
- Trying different body positions, as some people find relief when changing positions or moving around
- Gentle exercises with resistance bands (after consulting with your healthcare provider)

If you experience severe chest pain, especially if it spreads to your arms, neck, or jaw, or is accompanied by difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention.
