Several MyLupusTeam members have reported similar experiences with itchy, red ears, especially during flare-ups. Discoid lupus, a type of chronic cutaneous lupus, commonly affects the ears, face, and scalp. It typically causes raised, scaly lesions that can become red. While discoid lesions aren't usually itchy, some people do experience itching and burning sensations. If you're experiencing itchy ears, it's important to discuss this with a dermatologist or rheumatologist. They may recommend treatments such as:
• Corticosteroid creams
• Immunosuppressant medications
• Antimalarial medications
• Sun protection (wearing sunscreen and limiting sun exposure)
