Do you have central nervous system symptoms, back problems?

@Mariadolores--Even though a shower may feel good, please be aware that the water is very drying, especially hot water. You may want to try just warm water.

Antihistamines may help with our itching, especially if it's persistent. I occasionally get a facial itch that passes quickly, and I just ignore it. I also try extra moisturizer which helps sometimes.

For the past couple of days I have been experiencing a sensation on the tip of my nose like there is a hair from my bangs laying on it. I keep grabbing at my nose hoping to get the hair, but there is nothing there. Frustrating! 😒

Yes, that random itching is incredibly common with lupus — you are definitely not alone! Itching is actually the most reported skin symptom among people with lupus, with over 80% experiencing it. One MyLupusTeam member described it perfectly: "By the end of the day my skin feels like I have ants crawling under it, and I am constantly itching on various parts of my body."

The itching doesn't always mean your skin is visibly dry or rashed. It can be caused by skin inflammation related to lupus itself, even when skin looks normal. Here are some things that might help manage the itch:

- Antihistamines like loratadine (Claritin) or cetirizine (Zyrtec) — one MyLupusTeam member said this combo helped tremendously
- Lukewarm showers instead of hot ones, as heat can worsen itching
- Fragrance-free lotions, detergents, and personal care products
- Breathable fabrics like cotton or silk instead of synthetic materials
- Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water

If the itching is persistent or worsening, it's worth mentioning to your rheumatologist or dermatologist, as it could be a sign of a flare needing treatment adjustment.

Yes, I attribute the dryness and itchiness to Menopause and lupus though. They kind of work hand-in-hand, not the best time to go through it. I also have eczema in my ears, believe it or not.
I have perioral dermatitis with just a little red spots and bumps around my nose and the lower half of my face. I have to use gentle cleanser now.
Still figuring out how to treat it by using Aquafor or Cortizone. There are some really good, gentle face, and body creams.
I use vitamin E, Cera v, and also some prescription for mosquito bites. When in doubt I use in all natural oil made by Crisan!!!
Hope this helps.
