I had been diagnosed with high cholesterol a couple of years ago. I thought that it was my diet. Recently, I someone said it was from lupus. So, of course, I needed to verify it. Check this out:

Many community members responded to the question about high cholesterol and lupus, with most sharing that their levels rose after their lupus diagnosis and that they had no idea the two were connected. Several members shared strategies for managing cholesterol without or alongside medication, including plant-based and vegan diets, adding seafood for protein, walking 30 minutes daily, taking omega-3 supplements, and trying small amounts of cinnamon to help lower LDL. A recurring theme was the frustration of doing everything right yet still struggling with numbers, balanced by a strong sense of encouragement, shared faith, and gratitude for learning more about how lupus affects the whole body.

I want to mention that a plant-based diet is very effective for lowering cholesterol, too, and some may want to consider it. It keeps my levels low.

@A MyLupusTeam Member. Cinnamon is also good at lowering sugar levels too. Be careful with it as it has a narrow window. God bless

My cholestrol levels were high. I went vegan. It dropped my cholestrol. Meat has choldesrol veggies don't. I had to get used to the different foods that do have protein and now because of the Lupus and Lung medications I take I had to add Sea food. It was a new learning curve again for me. As I was vegan but now I eat sea food. What's so funny is I used to like meat. But, after going vegan I don't like it anymore. Its the grease. So try it. (Vegan) I had to get used to no salt. Now I don't like salty food. Also, vegan is good for your blood sugar too. It brings your sugar levels down (the fiber) I am praying for you. God bless.
