Members rallied around the question of managing restless legs syndrome (RLS) at night, sharing a wide range of helpful strategies that have worked for them. Several members suggested magnesium supplements or cream, Epsom salt baths, heating pads, eating a banana before bed, and doing light exercises like ankle lifts or progressive muscle tightening from the feet upward. A recurring theme was that a mix of movement, relaxation routines, and talking to a doctor about medications like Ropinirole or Gabapentin can make a real difference on tough nights.

Yes and I hate it, my PT told me to do my ankle lifts and backward leg lifts before bed. On really bad nights I take my muscle relaxer and I put my heating pad on my legs too. I hope you find something that helps. Oh and try a magnesium cream.

I tighten the muscles in my feet and hold for 10 seconds, then calf's, knees work my way up the legs this helps calm it down for me.

Stretching the affected leg or legs out with your feet flat in bed can help, Teresa. This helps me. Ropinorole and gabapentin are two medication options to ask your doctor about if the stretching and things others suggested don't work for you.

A relaxing bedtime routine helps, too, as stress/anxiety aggravate RLS. Getting at least some exercise during the day may help, too.
