I have several family members with lupus and we seem to have really bad flares at the same time. Then some in my groups do at the same time

Members responded to the question about whether lupus flares follow seasonal patterns, with the general consensus being that flares can happen any time but certain conditions make them more likely. Weather changes, heat, sunlight, cold, dampness, stress, exhaustion, and emotional strain were the most commonly shared triggers, with summer and winter mentioned most often as the hardest seasons. Several members shared helpful coping strategies like keeping a journal or notebook to track flare patterns, staying positive, practicing self-care, and resting on difficult days.

A flare is a flare is a flare!! Any time any where. That’s what my doctor say.
I keep a little notebook of flares what I was doing and who said or did something to irritate me.

I went to a comedy show laughing so hard I had a flare-up.

Anything that stresses the body can produce a flare. 💜🦋

There are a lot of variables causing flare's for me, but one besides weather, are how I am mentally doing regarding what is happening in my life. I am learning to keep a journal and keep a sense of not being a victim of a disease, but doing a dance to make the best of it as I can and bring the best attitude I can. . . . although on bad days when I have overdone it, I just rest. So, for me, keeping in tune with my moods, and being as positive as I can about/while tracking eating and emotional traumas and activities. I actually have a calendar where I give myself a star for days that I am extra good to myself. Self-love, self-forgiveness, understanding and forgiving others. . . . taking care of my spiritual with self-love as best I can. I even talk to my body, and give it support as the body keeps the score of what's happening. I hope this makes sense.

Mine are kind of predictable in somd cases. Like a major change in the weathereither way cold/hot or wet/dry makes me hurt. Some may not call that a flare. But to me it is! Other times I can judt say oh I been doing pretty good.... wrong statement cause every going to go wrong. I just try to roll with punches

Me too Ann! I do all the driving for my husband as he has inner ear problems, and he feels like he is falling. So, there are some days that we have to travel in very heavy traffic, and I get quite tense with concentrating on the road and other drivers. Usually, those days my tongue breaks out in cold sores. Not fun. They hurt! 😒

If you're going to flare anyway you may as well get it laughing😂
