I find my skin dryer during a flare. I don't take any meds. I do use coconut oil from head to toe more during a flare tho. Otherwise organic lotion works fine.

Yes, skin reactions including dry, scaly patches are reported by some people taking hydroxychloroquine. These skin changes can be a sign of an allergic reaction to the medication, especially if accompanied by blistering or peeling.

Several MyLupusTeam members have shared experiences with skin reactions after starting hydroxychloroquine, ranging from rashes to more severe reactions. Some noticed symptoms within days of starting the medication, while others developed reactions after longer periods of use. If you develop any skin changes while taking hydroxychloroquine, it's important to contact your doctor right away. They can help determine if:
• The skin changes are related to the medication
• You need to adjust your dosage
• You should stop taking the medication
• You need additional treatment for the skin reaction

Remember that skin symptoms can also be related to lupus itself, so working with your healthcare provider is essential to identify the true cause and appropriate treatment.
