Members responded warmly to a question about rashes under the breast, with many sharing that they experience this themselves and identifying it as likely a fungal or yeast-related skin issue caused by moisture. Several members recommended products that have worked for them, including Gold Bond medicated powder, Nystatin powder and cream, Miconazole cream, clotrimazole, and Triamcinolone Acetonide, with keeping the area clean and dry being the most repeated tip. A recurring theme was encouragement to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis, and one member also shared helpful kidney-friendly lifestyle tips for managing CKD alongside lupus.

@Lupuspurple--Other measures to help with CKD include monitoring your BP closely and keeping it ideally under 120/80. Avoiding NSAIDS like ibuprofen/naproxen is key, as these injure the kidneys in those of us with CKD. In general, it's best to consult with your doctors before taking anything to avoid the risk of kidney injury, and always be sure that any unfamiliar doctors treating you are aware of your CKD.

Keeping cholesterol well-controlled is also important, as heart disease is the most common cause of death in those with CKD. Avoiding smoking and other cardiac risk factors (like obesity, inactivity, and diabetes) is also helpful.

This is a fungal interigo rash. Clean the area and gently pat it dry. Apply 2% Miconazole Cream twice a day. The rash should clear up in a couple of days. You can use it daily for a preventative measure also. Good luck!

Lenore, I agree with @A MyLupusTeam Member that this sounds like a yeast infection, and an over-the-counter clotrimazole antifungal cream should work if other measures don't.

We women are prone to this due to moisture under the breasts, and keeping the area as dry as possible helps prevent it.

@A MyLupusTeam Member It could be a yeast infection. When I had a rash under one breast, my doctor told me to use an anti-fungal cream. If it's red and inflamed, use hydrocortisone cream. I added cornstarch powder to keep the area dry because I sweat a lot. Please consult with your primary care doctor to be certain what the cause is.
