Members connected over experiencing various types of leg rashes, with many describing small red or purple dots (vasculitis or petechiae), raised itchy patches, and painful discoloration that range from temporary flares to persistent scarring. Several members shared helpful strategies, including steroid creams like Clobetasol or Triamcinolone, natural remedies like Witch Hazel, Aveeno products, aloe gel, CBD cream, Eucerin, and taking antihistamines like Zyrtec or Cetirizine, with some finding relief through medications like Plaquenil, Methotrexate, and prednisone. A recurring theme was frustration with doctors dismissing the rashes as unrelated to lupus, the emotional toll of visible scarring and social isolation from avoiding shorts or the sun, and the powerful sense of validation and community from realizing they were not alone in their struggles.

I had previously experienced terrible rashes on my legs. They were miserable! It’s been a while since I’ve had them. Always both legs, at the calves towards the ankles.

I was having leg rashes for years to the point of discoloration on one leg from scratching so much and being told it was eczema. I had so many ointments and creams its ridiculous. Now the doc says i have lichen planus on my knee which is an indicator of lupus. I was tested an the results were positive for SLE in addition to that i have Fibromyalgia that i had been diagnosed with a few yrs prior.🤦🏾‍♀️ Itchy skin, pain and fatigue is no fun.

My leg rash was one of the first symptoms of Lupus. It attacked my ankle with small, burning itchy red bumps and made my feet swell. Also on my Left foot were a few bumps and on first visit to the doc they thought it was a blood clot-which of course it was not. I went back after 2 days because I had nodules on my right thigh on my wrists and bumps on my fingers and everywhere they were was inflamation and pain. My wonderful pc doc-thought it was migratory rhemutoid arthrits so he tested for that, Lupus and something else-when I heard him say Lupus-I thought "not me!". Next day I found out I tested very high for lupus. I do not haave health insurance so this was very scary but my doc and I have a regimen that works with very little medication. This journey began about 3 years ago, but I have been so lucky to have such a great doc and thankful it didn't take years and years to get my diagnosis. My heart goes out to all of you who struggle finding someone to believe you!!! Keep fighting the good fight-Lupus Warriors!!!
