If you have a lipoma (a fatty lump under the skin) and lupus, it's important to have any skin abnormalities evaluated by your rheumatologist or healthcare provider to rule out cutaneous lupus. While lipomas themselves are typically harmless, if they cause mobility issues or discomfort, your doctor may recommend removal or drainage. Since lupus can affect tissues throughout the body and cause skin sensitivity, it's essential to monitor any changes in the lipoma's size or any associated symptoms. If you experience any pain, swelling, or other concerning symptoms around the lipoma area during lupus flares, make sure to discuss this with your healthcare team.

I suggest speaking to your doctor about this. This can be a complex situation depending on the lipoma. Sometimes it’s serious and sometimes it’s not. There are many variables so this is not something people in this group can help you with effectively. You can always get a second and third opinion if you don’t like your current doctor. Good luck.
