Loss of appetite and nausea are common challenges with lupus. Many people experience similar symptoms, including feeling hungry but having no desire to eat. This can lead to concerning weight loss and nutritional challenges.

Some key symptoms that can affect nutrition include:
• Nausea and stomach discomfort
• Feeling full quickly after eating small amounts
• Loss of appetite despite hunger signals
• Difficulty maintaining a healthy weight Here are some strategies that may help:
• Try eating smaller, more frequent meals
• Focus on nutrient-dense foods when you can eat
• Consider cold or soft foods if you're having trouble eating
• Ask your doctor about meal-replacement shakes or smoothies
• Work with a registered dietitian for personalized nutrition advice

It's important to discuss these symptoms with your healthcare provider, as they can help determine if you need additional testing or treatment adjustments. They can also check if any medications are contributing to these issues.

I've struggled the last 14 years to gain and keep weight on. It started with a super flareup, like no other flareup I've ever had, it was horrible. I lost nearly 60 pounds. Since then, it's been a struggle to gain. I'd loose 5-8 pounds vacuuming my floors, or mowing the lawn. Any physical activity I'd drop. I'm fighting today to get back up to 120 pounds after dropping to 88 pounds. Drs got me on 4 Ensures a day plus whatever I can eat. I'm up to 105 at the moment but if I help out around to he farm or just do simple house work I'll loose it all. Been told I'm fine no one knows why so I just do my best to eat n drink as much as I can

I lost 30 pounds in 3 months. I cannot hold any weight. My weight loss comes from flares and my allergy to plastic. Plastic, and my emotions (stress) makes me diuresis. I can lose 7 pounds in a day of just water. I eat vegan mainly although I do eat a 1/2 can of tuna daily. I really have no appeitite because of the meds i take. I stick really hard to my diet as I don't want to flare. As I said I can lose 7 pounds in a day and this zaps my strenghth and I feel like I am dying. Right now I am holding my pressure on the current meds. But before the current meds I was bottoming out my pressure and lossing so much weight. I stick to my diet and take my meds so I don't flare. My flares are different and my allergies added on is a whole other added bonus to Lupus. I have SLE, Mixed connective Tissue disease with Lung involvment. Love you Natasha and you are in my prayers daily. Hugs
