I have sle and just came down with Covid for the first time. I am a little apprehensive about having Covid with lupus. Has anyone experienced Covid with lupus and how did it work with your children condition?

Please keep us posted, Fancy. Now that most of us have had several immunizations, it's far more likely that we will do fine, with or without Paxlovid. The treatment provides extra assurance, but it isn't essential, so don't worry about missing it.

Thank you @A MyLupusTeam Member I am unfortunately past the time for the plaxlovid. My test came back negative dr said it was a respiratory infection and prescribed antibiotics. Still felt terrible 2 days after did a home test and it came back positive for Covid. So resting pushing fluids and continuing antibiotics for ear infections. I am comforted in knowing you survived Covid.

Fancy, I have severe lupus and am immunocompromised. I survived Covid without hospitalization, thanks to Paxlovid. Please ask your doctor about it even if your lupus is mild. Older people are also more prone to serious illness from it, as I’m sure you know.

An older friend with lupus and mild immunocompromise died of Covid last year. Due to her meds, she was unable to take Paxlovid.

Most people can avoid hospitalization or complications with Paxlovid treatment. It must be started within five days of symptom onset. Please keep us posted. 😘

The vaccines reduce the risk of serious illness, hospitalization, and death, but like the flu vaccine, they don't prevent the infection completely. Experts recommend it, and even healthy unvaccinated people die of COVID, FYI.

How are you, Fancy?

I've had Covid twice after having the first and second vaccines. The first time around I was sick sick sick! It even affected my nervous system and I shook all over for a few days. The second time wasn't any fun but it wasn't as severe. I've not had anymore vaccinations for it since. I have mixed feelings about them. Just rest such as possible and keep all surfaces of your home wiped down with disinfectants. Not getting into your children's faces might help. But this virus is so contagious, there are no guarantees for anyone. Prayers are going up for you.
