Lately my face, mostly the sides of my cheeks, is incredibly painful. If it’s brushed against, it’s full-on agony. Wind (even a breeze) hurts so bad. It’s not just the skin either. The bones in my face hurt, makes my eyes hurt/sensitive to light, hurts to chew, open my mouth, talk, etc. This is a new symptom. Has anyone felt this before? If so, any suggestions?
This could be trigeminal neuralgia, a painful condition affecting the facial nerve, Michelle. Medications like gabapentin or Tegretol can alleviate it, and rarely, decompression surgery is needed. Please see your doctor. I hope you get relief soon, as I know this is miserable!
Is extreme facial pain and sensitivity a symptom others with lupus experience?
Yes, facial pain and sensitivity like what you're describing has been experienced by other MyLupusTeam members. Some describe their cheeks burning like there's "fire under the skin" with the bones underneath feeling tender. Others mention that Show Full Answer
Yes, Vanessa please see your doctor. Very hard to replace your eyes! God bless and praying for you.
@VanessaWeimer--Many problems can cause eye pain, ranging from dry eyes to serious internal inflammation. Please see your ophthalmologist. I would ask for an urgent appointment, but if your vision has changed with this, Vanessa, explain that and you can hopefully get a same-day appointment. Good luck, and keep us posted.😘
My eyes have been hurting too.
