Have you been definitely diagnosed with it? Excellent self-care, like for lupus, can only help, Tammy. Please talk to your rheumatologist about treatment options, and keep us posted!

What can I take for it? Is there anything I can do at home for it?

CREST is a separate autoimmune disorder that's related to scleroderma. It's far more limited than scleroderma, which can affet the whole body. CREST causes chondrocalcinosis (calcium deposits in the skin/soft tissue), Raynaud's, esophageal problems, and changes in the fingers and skin.

Is CREST syndrome a type of lupus?

CREST syndrome is not a type of lupus. Based on the available information about lupus types, there are four main forms:

* Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) - the most common type affecting multiple body systems
* Cutaneous lupus erythematosus - primarily affecting the skin
* Drug-induced lupus - triggered by certain medications
* Neonatal lupus - a rare form affecting infants

CREST syndrome is not listed among these lupus types. While both are autoimmune conditions, they are distinct diseases with different characteristics and symptoms.

If you're experiencing symptoms or have concerns about whether your condition might be CREST syndrome or lupus, your rheumatologist is the best resource for accurate diagnosis and guidance. They can evaluate your specific symptoms and determine the right treatment approach for your situation.
