Yes, I have terrible muscle spasms in my back. I get massages for relief but it doesn't last long, within a day or two they come right back

Do you experience severe nausea along with involuntary muscle spasms or intense muscle tensing in your back?

Yes, several MyLupusTeam members have shared experiences with muscle spasms and tensing, though the nausea component you're describing is particularly challenging.

One member described experiencing intercostal muscle spasms that were incredibly painful, making it difficult to move and only allowing for small, shallow breaths. These spasms were worse during stress or lupus flares.

Another member mentioned uncontrollable muscle twitching throughout their body that was especially bothersome when trying to rest or sleep. Members have noted that these spasms can range from quick twitches to persistent, shocking contractions that interfere with daily life.

Many have found that muscle spasms tend to worsen during lupus flares or when they're particularly fatigued. The combination you're experiencing with nausea is definitely worth discussing with your doctor, as it could be related to:

- Severe muscle tension affecting your core and back
- Medication side effects
- Nutritional deficiencies like low magnesium
- Lupus affecting your nervous system (peripheral neuropathy)

Your healthcare provider can help identify the underlying cause and adjust your treatment plan accordingly. Don't ignore these symptoms - tracking when they occur can help your doctor find the best solution for you.
