I had major surgery several times as once was my spine has they had to replace C3-C7 as I woke up one day and was numb on my right side due to finding I had no spinal fluid in that area, which they were replaced with titanium by the back surgeon. I was kept overnight in the trauma unit but they failed to keep ice packs on my neck which is where the surgeon entered my body to get to my spine as they recommended it was the better option. Also I just had major knee surgery as I broke my kneecap and avulsion in February of this year after falling on the concrete floor in my garage due to the fact I was not aware my muscles due not move with Lupus SLE when it is 5 below zero and my garage is not heated. It took a long time to recover from both as well as I was extremely fatigued more than my Lupus SLE daily fatigue before I had surgeries. The older i get the more difficult it is to heal and recover from major surgery. My spine surgery was in 2007 and took about 7 months to fully heal as well as my patella and avulsion surgery took me about 9 months as well as more extremely fatigued than with my spine surgery in 2007. I feel however each person and their bodies are all different and there is no cut in stone recovery time and how our bodies will react to major surgery as they are so many equations to everyone's lives and what is going on in their daily lives affects each one of us differently. Hugs and prayers. God bless!
Yes, it will take longer to heal after surgery. I’ve had both knees replaced and 2 foot surgeries (due to being hit by a car while walking in crosswalk). It’s taken 2 years for surgeries and recoveries. Lupus also can effect how you heal by giving other issues that arises in surgery areas due to trauma. Everyone is different though so healing with vary.
It does take a little longer but the key is to talk with your rheumatologist prior to your surgery. My doctor orders prednisone and he requests that the surgeon give me a shot of cortisone durning or after surgery.
I just had a hip replacement and I had no problems because of the steroids.
Yes it take longer, after my back surgery it look 11/2 years ive had several took longer on each one
Every body is different
