Yes, it's possible. Prinzmetal's does not occur with normal coronary arteries, and both mild non-occluding atherosclerosis (plaque) in the arteries and vasculitis (blood vessel inflammation, which we can get due to lupus) can predispose to vasospasm.

Raynaud's syndrome, which we often have in the fingers, is also due to vasospasm, and it's possible we may be more prone to vasospasm in other locations. Upon a quick search of the medical literature, I don't find a specific association between Prinzmetal's and lupus.

How are you doing, Ekaterina?

Can lupus cause vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal's angina)?

While the search results don't specifically mention vasospastic angina, lupus can affect the heart and blood vessels in several ways that may be related. Lupus commonly causes inflammation in blood vessels (vasculitis), which affects almost half of people with lupus. This inflammation can impact arteries, veins, and capillaries throughout the body.

Lupus also significantly increases the risk of various heart conditions. People with lupus are 7 to 9 times more likely to have heart attacks than the general population, and cardiovascular disease is actually the leading cause of death in people with lupus.

Some lupus-related heart conditions include:
* Pericarditis (inflammation around the heart)
* Myocarditis (inflammation of heart muscle)
* Atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in arteries)
* Pulmonary hypertension

If you're experiencing chest pain, pressure, or symptoms that concern you, it's important to discuss them with your doctor. They can evaluate whether your symptoms are related to lupus-associated heart or blood vessel complications and recommend appropriate testing and treatment.
