Keep appealing the decision. Talk to your doctors about disability and challenges that you’re facing that is keeping you from working. I had my doctor fill out an unofficial disability form I found online that went into detail about the health issues and how it affects me. This was many years ago so I don’t know where or what site I got it from. I collected my own medical documentations. Eventually, I went before a judge and was approved.

Also show how you are not able to "keep on task" often and why. Document the days you are unable to work and why. Document the number of times you have been reprimanded because of illness and why. Document if you have been let go because of illness.

Thank you very much for this information. I will tell my doctor about submitting a form like that. Have a wonderful day!

What documentation helped others get approved for SSDI with lupus?

Getting denied for SSDI can be incredibly frustrating, especially when you've already provided substantial medical information. While the search results don't specifically address SSDI documentation, they do emphasize the importance of thorough record-keeping and clear communication with your healthcare team.

To strengthen your case, consider these documentation strategies:

- Keep detailed records of your symptoms, including when they started and how they affect your daily life
- Use a symptom tracker or health journal to document specific impacts on your ability to work
- Bring a list of all medications, treatments, and their side effects
- Document any hospitalizations, emergency visits, or serious flare-ups
- Have your doctor clearly explain in writing how lupus limits your functional capacity

If you're working with an attorney, they can help ensure your medical records clearly demonstrate the severity and consistency of your limitations. Sometimes it helps to have your doctor write a detailed letter explaining how lupus specifically prevents you from maintaining employment.

Don't give up - many people need to appeal their initial denial. Your attorney can guide you through the appeals process and help identify what additional documentation might strengthen your case.
