For me, I'd say the worst part is always being sick and feeling like I'll never be healthy again as long as I live.

Never knowing one hour or one day to the next how you are going to feel. Lupus is unpredictable.

It takes longer to do things now. I tire more easily, have to rest more often. It's frustrating.

The chronic fatigue right now. That I can't do things like I used too.

What feels like the worst part about living with lupus?

That feeling of always being sick and wondering if you'll ever feel healthy again is something many people with lupus share. It's a heavy burden to carry.

Based on what others with lupus have expressed, the worst parts often include:

* The relentless fatigue that makes even simple tasks feel impossible
* Chronic pain in joints and throughout the body
* The unpredictability of flares and never knowing how you'll feel day to day
* Missing your "old self" - the person who was active, energetic, and spontaneous
* The emotional toll, including depression and anxiety that comes with managing a chronic condition
* Feeling like people don't understand because you often don't "look sick"

A MyLupusTeam member captured this well: "I miss my old self... the self who used to be fun, goofy, and active." Another shared, "When I'm so exhausted - and all I can do is sleep - I get depressed and wonder, 'What's the point of living?'"

The feeling that it never gets easier is real. As one member noted after living with lupus for over a decade: "This is not something you can ever get used to. It still hurts. It's always there."

Your feelings are valid, and you're not alone in experiencing them.
